Our CEO Cheryl Contee partnered with Blue State Digital, a digital strategy and tech firm specializing in online fundraising and constituency development earlier this month to talk about creating influencer driven campaigns for nonprofits. Cheryl spoke about the amazing network reach of nonprofits, citing that the average reach is around 40 million and that the top 5% of influencers can reach 200x more people than those currently in your CRM! She also explained the different types of influencers that nonprofits should be engaging with, and shared why “word of mouth” marketing is the most influential. Perhaps most importantly, Cheryl explained how to identify and approach influencers - the best place to start is in your nonprofit’s very own database! Klout scores, bios, and interactions on social media are great indicators of who influencers are and how they are engaging with your audience. Why should nonprofits care? fluencers are great peer to peer fundraisers. Their audience is more likely to donate and join a cause when influencers facilitate emotional connections to the campaign for you.
