Fission CEO Cheryl Talks Social Impact with Virtual Teams at #DENT2015
Posted by Cheryl Contee on March 26, 2015
Why are virtual teams inspirational and impactful? Last week, I shared my experiences with #DENT2015, an invitation-only innovators conference that aims to “translate the success of great leaders in business, politics, or charity into a set of lessons for those who want to “put a dent in the future.”
I spoke about inspiring virtual teams, something I’ve endeavored to pioneer as CEO at Fission and Co-founder at our sister company, Attentive.ly, both of which are remote companies. I shared my experiences with remote office culture and provided #DENT2015 go-ers with tools and best practices that enhance communication and efficiency for remote office environments like Redbooth, Clicktime, and Asana.
I also answered questions to challenges that many remote teams face, and gave advice for colleagues to collaborate face to face.
Humor and assuming good intentions is a great way to encourage effective communication among any team.
I also found time to connect with other great leaders and make some new friends! Here I am with William Pattnosh, the founder of Concierge Q and URHereTravel.
Some of my top takeaways included some of the innovative cartoons showcased by two-time Pulitzer Prize winning journalist and cartoonist, David Horsey.
#DENT2015 was incredible this year. I am looking forward to seeing everyone at next year’s conference and collaborating with you in making a dent in the future. Many thanks to Dent Co-Founders and legendary tech leaders Jason Preston and Steve Broback for encouraging me to come and speak. Also I’d like to give a shoutout to the visionary Sarah Milstein of Lean Startup who recommended me to the Dent team and who also spoke movingly on how to create diversity in the workplace.
I highly recommend Dent for those who prefer smaller, highly curated conferences where the person sitting next to you is at the top of their field. Idaho is beautiful and the people there are very friendly. Request an invitation!
