Fission Strategy Teams Up With ONE Campaign and (RED) After Successful Twitter Campaign
posted by Sam Marx on January 23, 2012
After working with the ONE Campaign for their successful Tweet President Obama campaign, Fission Strategy has developed a second Twitter application for ONE Campaign, but this time with ONE’s heavyweight sister organization (RED) in the mix. Both (RED) and ONE were co-founded by Bono and Bobby Shriver, among others.
Tweet at the White House: Call for Action in HIV/AIDS functions similarly to ‘Tweet President Obama,’ allowing Twitter users to send targeted messages to the President’s @whitehouse handle asking for increased access to HIV treatment for the 15 million Americans who need it. Once sent, Tweets, their users, and locations are posted on an interactive Google map, highlighting the wide national support for the fight against HIV/AIDS. The campaign was launched in time for World AIDS Day (December 1), and also directed users to the @ONECampaign and @joinred Twitter pages in order to become more engaged and share information.
The Tweet President Obama campaign asking for two new vaccines to save children designed by Fission Strategy amassed 2,398 Tweets from ONE Campaign members and advocates. More importantly, however, it worked, and the White House pledged $450 million towards vaccines at GAVI. Read more about the campaign’s success on ONE Campaign's blog.
This campaign to Tweet at the White House for a Call for Action on HIV/AIDS has hit its 1,000 Tweet goal and has already established a new goal of 2,000 Tweets. With 1,267 Tweets sent, over 700 more Tweets are needed. Can you help out ONE Campaign and (RED) today? Click here to let the President know you want the White House to expand its fight against HIV/AIDS! And if you’re not on Twitter, feel free to post the message on the White House’s Facebook wall!
