MomsRising Praises Fission Strategy

posted by Roz Lemieux on October 4, 2011

Fission Strategy was recently given a shout-out by MomsRising.org, a million-member grassroots organization that advocates for a range of motherhood, child, and family issues. At the 2011 21st Century New Media Training Series hosted by UC Berkeley, Mary Olivella, Vice President of MomsRising, shared:

We developed, with another organization called Fission, who are wonderful people if you ever want to have a tech firm, and created a Facebook application...

Fission developed a Facebook app for MomsRising that allowed users to post virtual pins to their profile pictures, in conjunction with a campaign targeted at Congressional representatives (who wore similar pins) to promote the passage of health care reform.

Mary Olivella is a leading advocate for policies related to family economic security, child health, and ending discrimination against mothers. She has been published in various scientific journals and throughout the national media.

Fission has worked closely with MomsRising over the past three years providing a range of strategy, design and tech support and has helped grow the organization from 100,000 to over a million members. The lecture given by Mary, entitled New Media Tools for Health Advocacy, is embedded below.

Thanks Mary... and MomsRising!

The shout-out of Fission occurs at approximately 41:52.
