No More Names: Six Months Since Newtown
Posted by Sean Quinn on June 14, 2013
Six months ago today, we witnessed one of the darkest days in American history as 28 people fell victim to gun violence at Sandy Hook Elementary School and the nearby area in Newtown, Connecticut.
And every single day since then, 33 people have died from gun violence. That’s more than 6,000 people who have been murdered with guns in the United States since the Newtown massacre.
In the past 6 months, we’ve also seen no Congressional action on gun violence. That’s why Fission Strategy was proud to work with Mayors Against Illegal Guns on NoMoreNames.org.
NoMoreNames.org will launch today with a day of remembrance in Newtown. You can watch the livestream of the event and reading of the names of those who have died at NoMoreNames.org or embeded below.
From Newtown, a nationwide bus tour will launch to travel to 25 states over 100 days, where Mayors against Illegal Guns will visit congressional district offices to read the names of those killed by gun violence.
We think it’s time that Congress takes meaningful action on lessening gun violence in this country, and we’re proud to support NoMoreNames.org and Mayors against Illegal Guns in this effort to enact meaningful legislation on gun control.
