No Grinch Here: Inspiring Images for the Holidays

No Grinch Here: Inspiring Images for the Holidays

It’s the holiday season, which means it’s that wonderful time of the year where people are doing good, spreading joy, and sharing images of their families for all to see. Nonprofits can also take advantage of this warm, fuzzy, sharing feeling with some excellent holiday social share images that will increase your visibility and drive both supporters and potential supporters to take action around the holiday (giving) season.

Like any other social media campaign, a holiday social sharing campaign should align with your organization’s goals to provide maximum impact. Themes of community, family, health, and other positive elements that inspire supporters around your mission should be consistent throughout the share images. If possible, highlight your organization’s own community, with pictures of staff and supporters coming together.

This time of year can also be a time where people reflect on the things they’ve accomplished over the past year. Remind them of their important contributions to your work, to show appreciation and energize them for the upcoming year ahead.

Over the years, Fission has had the opportunity to work with many of our amazing clients to create successful share images tied to holidays thank the community, attract new supporters, prompt action, and inspire sharing all while embodying the holiday spirit!

Boreal Manitoba

Fission worked with Boreal Manitoba to educate and attract advocates to the cause of saving the Boreal Forest in the province. We created share images, postcards, and print ads. These holiday share images showcased animals from the boreal, while also engaging with Boreal Manitoba’s supporter base over the holidays. Boreal Manitoba’s main call to action, a survey, began after the holidays, and the share images helped instigate action to preserve the ecosystems in the forest.

Fair Farms Maryland

Maryland-based nonprofit Waterkeepers Chesapeake launched a sustainable farming initiative called Fair Farms around the 2015 holidays with the goal of changing industrial farming paradigms and supporting sustainable farms and clean waterways. Their share images showcase seasonal food from small farms in MD as well as highlight individuals farmers. They also include imagery of MD families and are holiday-inclusive.

MomsRising
On February 14th, over 3,000 hand-made Valentine’s Day cards were delivered to Congress — sent by members who showed their “love” for early-care and education programs. Fission developed the card-making tool for “Send a Valentine to Congress” and supported MomsRising’s work to “show love” to early childhood and education programs. The action was designed to catch the eye and capture the hearts of Senators and Representatives — many of whom are parents themselves.

CETF
The California Emerging Tech Fund’s campaign, Internet for All, featured holiday share images that addressed the need for equitable Internet access for all. Fission designed share images for major national holidays that illustrated how much many Americans take Internet access for granted. These images made powerful data and actionable information more accessible, shareable, and easy for anyone to understand.
