Project Summary:
Fission worked with Rock the Vote and Citizen Engagement Labs during the 2012 election cycle to create new ways for young people to register to vote online through Facebook. Fission is currently the only Preferred Marketing Developer that works exclusively with nonprofits and foundations.
For the 2012 election cycle, making sure as many citizens as possible were registered to vote was a top priority. With the Facebook Voter Registration application created by Rock the Vote, Citizen Engagement Lab, and Fission, registering to vote was made as easy as possible.
The goal was to reach young, diverse voters in new, friendly online venues that they frequent. Rock the Vote took advantage of support from celebrities, including Miley Cyrus, Neil Patrick Harris, and Jane Lynch.
Fission was responsible for integrating the registration application into Facebook. Fission also led in creating a Flash widget that allowed users to start the voter registration process from a Timeline post while still in Facebook. You can also see a version of the application here.
